TSU Academic Council approval on the Programme

The European Union awarded the TSU Institute for European Studies the grant under Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Project action titled as “Establishing Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Programme in European Studies at Tbilisi State University”/ EUStBA 2020-2022




On 11th of April 2022 two academic programmes of the Institute for European Studies of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University – the Master’s Programme in European Studies (established under EC TACIS project) as well as the new Jean Monnet Bachelor’s Programme in European Studies (established under EU Erasmus+ project) were approved by the Academic Council of TSU. This successful development coincided with the symbolic date for our country as the same day Georgia had been handed over the questionnaire by Commission on the EU membership application.  

Bachelor’s programme in European Studies of TSU Institute for European Studies have been developed and designed within the frames of the EU funded ERASMUS+ Jean Monnet Project  -“EUStBA- Establishing Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s Programme in European Studies at Tbilisi State University”, with the active involvement of the administrative and academic staff of IES, the representatives of the relevant offices of TSU and the experts from the partner EU universities. Different phases of the programme development process had been supported by the representatives of the diplomatic missions, the members of the EP and Georgian institutions including the state officials of the relevant line Ministries, IES students and alumni, employers and other stakeholders. 

Before this very important decision on approval made by the TSU Academic Council, both the Master’s and the Jean Monnet Undergraduate programmes in European Studies had undergone the three tier scrutiny process within the TSU: On 20th March 2022 the programmes had been asserted by the Scientific Council of Institute for European Studies, followed by securing the approval of the special programmes’ Development Committee on the 27th of March 2022 as well as the voting by Council of the Law Faculty on the 8th of April 2022.  After decision made by the TSU Academic Council, the accreditation process is officially launched!
