Last Call for Applications on English-taught Masterʹs Programme in European Studies 2022/2023

Institute for European Studies (IES) of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, established by the EU funded project "Establishment of a Center for European Studies", is accepting the late applications for its English-taught interdisciplinary Masterʹs Programme in European Studies (MAES) for the academic year of  2022-2023, with the mobility opportunities into the European Universities and internships in public as well as private sectors.

The Institute for European Studies (IES) of Tbilisi State University was established in 2007 under TACIS project and is based on four Faculties of TSU: 
  • Faculty of Law
  • Faculty Economics and Business
  • Faculty of Social and Political Science
  • Faculty of Humanities

The curriculum and course syllabi of IES had been developed by international experts while considering the best practices of classical EU Studies Masterʹs Programmes in leading Western European Universities.    


Diploma is issued by the Faculty of Law of Tbilisi State University



Tuition fee for the programme is GEL 1500 per semester for Georgian citizens, and GEL 2100 - for the citizens of foreign countries.

Konrad Adenauer Foundation full scholarships are available   for the citizens of the Eastern Partnership Countries: Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.


Those willing to enroll in the programme must have passed National Unified Masterʹs exam (required for Georgian citizens only) and possess the Bachelorʹs diploma from the following faculties: Law, Social and Political Sciences, Economics and Business, Humanities. 


The language of instruction and examination is solely English.



Official enrollment dates for the academic year of 2022-2023:
(Order of the TSU Rector N258/01-01, 2/09/2022)

a) Submission of Documentation (Registration) – 7-9 September;
*b) English language Interview - B2 level (obligatory for international applicants only and applicants applying without passing National Unified Masterʹs Exam) - 12-13 September;
c) English Language Test (B2 level) – 14 September; 
d) Announcement of Exam Results – 15 September;
e) Appellation of Exam Results – 16 September;
f) Announcement of Appellation results – 19 September;
g) Exam in Specialization and Interview – 20 September;
h) Announcement of the Results of Specialization Exam – 21 September;
i) Appellation of Exam Results – 22 September;
g) Announcement of Appellation results – 23 September;
k) Conclusion of contract with MA Candidates – 26 September;
m) Submission of the list of enrollment Candidates to the Department of Academic Process Management – 27 September.


List of the documents to be submitted:

a) Letter to the TSU Rector for Georgian applicants and the letter to the TSU rector for International applicants;
b) Photo (3X4) – 2 Printed Copies and a CD Version;
c) Copy of Bachelor’s Diploma and Diploma Supplement approved by Notary (in case of holding a foreign diploma - Georgian translation of it and approved by Notary);
d) Copy of ID or Passport (for international applicants - Georgian translation of passport approved by Notary);
e) International Certificate of English Language proficiency (in the case of existence - TOEFL, IELTS or FCE);
f) Copy of the document for military service (in the case of existence); 
g) Document certifying the recognition of foreign education (obligatory for those applicants who obtained Bachelor degree outside Georgia; Detailed information could be found here);
h) Short motivation letter in English language (500-700 words); 
i) CV in English language (preferably in Europass format).
